Venture through the palaces once home to the royals, which have now opened up their doors for visitors to come to see their culture and way of living. Itinerary
Our travel counselor will meet you at the airport and assist you in your hotel check-in. Delhi offers over a thousand monuments, old capital buildings including the present seat of the government, the Lok Sabha, designed by Sir Edwin Lutyens, the British architect, and bustling bazaars. In contrast it has some of India's most luxurious and modern hotels, markets and restaurants.
You will spend the first 2 days exploring New Delhi visiting historic and heritage sites like Old Delhi, Red Fort, Jama Masjid (Asia's largest mosque), Humayun's Tomb and Qutab Minar. The highlight of our expedition will be exploring the busy streets of Chandni Chowk Bazaars by cycle rickshaw.
Fly to Jodhpur, where you will be assisted by a member of our team, who will help you on your journey onwards to Jaisalmer.
Deserts, camels, havelis with jharokas (balconies), sand-stone structures and stunning intricate architecture makes Jaisalmer a favorite with not just tourists, but also Hollywood producers like Wes Anderson and Christopher Nolan, who have shot their popular films in the city. Here you will visit the magnificent Fort of Jaisalmer, a massive sandcastle rising from the sands, giving us a glimpse of a bygone era and other havelis, visit local markets where you can shop for clothes and artifacts, enjoy local cuisine and stroll through narrow streets soaking in the culture. In the afternoon we will visit the glorious sand dunes on camel back
Have a delicious morning breakfast before you set out for Jodhpur from Jaisalmer. Jodhpur, famous for the distinctive colour of its buildings, a reminder of the Brahmins, who used to paint their houses blue to deter insects and keep the dwellings cool during the summer. We will visit this old city encircled by an imposing wall and accessed through eight magnificent gates, which also is home to the majestic Mehrangarh Fort which has the reputation of being the most impressive Rajput fort in India.
Our next stop within the old city will be the Jaswant Thada, a beautiful marble crematorium constructed for the maharajahs in the 19th century. Our trip to Jodhpur will not be complete without a visit to the grand and ornate Umaid Palace which is part museum, part royal residence and part hotel. We will also visit the Sadar and Kapra bazaars where you can shop textiles, ceramics, spices and silver jewelry.
From Jodhpur, we will drive out to the charming and romantic city of Udaipur. Lake Pichola is central to the main palaces and all the palaces, including the ones floating in the water, are lit up. It's incredibly atmospheric. While there we will visit the city palace, Lake Palace, Ranakpura Jain temples and other attractions, and take an evening sunset cruise on Lake Pichola.
After a hearty and delicious breakfast, set out on your drive towards Jojawar an offbeat village that gives you a chance to see authentic village life and interesting landscapes. You have the option of taking a jeep tour, cycling or mountain climbing. You can even enjoy a toy train ride
Pushkar, one of India's oldest cities, is a 3 hour drive from Jojawar. It has been largely known for its religious significance as the city boasts of one of the very rare temples of Lord Brahma(Hindu god). It's a great place to relax, stroll through bustling lanes, take a camel safari and soak in the spiritual energy of the place.
Drive 4 hours to Jaipur, one of the most popular tourist destinations in India. The bazaars teem with people, camels, horses and a multitude of varied vehicles, while around them are magnificent palaces and buildings.
Visit Amber Fort, the ancient capital of Jaipur state in the morning. The afternoon city tour will take you to the City Palace whose museum has an extensive collection of art, carpets, enamel ware and weapons. We will also go to Jantar Mantar - the observatory built my Maharaja Jai Singh in 1728 and the facade of Hawa Mahal - the Palace of Winds.
Drive 4 hours to Ranthambore National Park, one of the biggest wildlife reserves in Northern India. Considered to be the best place to see the Royal Indian Tiger in the wild the park is also home to a variety of fauna like the crocodiles, deer, leopards and blue bulls, and a large species of birds. You can opt for doing both the morning and evening safaris to increase your chances of spotting a tiger in this beautiful and serene forest.
Take a train to Bharatpur and be driven 1.5 hrs to Agra.
Afternoon visit Agra Fort – the red sandstone structure that dominates the centre of the city and Mehtab bagh which also means moonlight garden. Overnight stay at Agra.
View the Taj Mahal, the beautiful monument carved out of white marble stone at sunrise.
Later drive 4 hrs to Delhi international airport for flight to onward destination.
